The RNVG-A, also known as the ARNVG (Articulating Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle), is a military-grade dual-tube night vision system designed for extreme durability and reliable performance. The housing is CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and engineered to withstand harsh real-world environments. During testing, the RNVG-A exceeded MIL-STD-810H drop test standards, surviving drops onto bare concrete from heights beyond what traditional image intensifiers and lenses can endure.
The design features tactile push-button controls for both power and the onboard infrared illuminator. The IR button is recessed behind a protective fence to prevent accidental activation. Inside the viewing area, visual indicators alert the operator when the IR illuminator is active or when the system detects a low battery. The RNVG-A can be powered by a single onboard CR123 battery or via a 4-pin LEMO-style connector for use with external battery packs.
The RNVG-A provides a full range of optical adjustments. Mil-spec objective lenses allow focus from 9.8 inches to infinity, while the eyepieces offer a diopter range of -6 to +2 for precise visual clarity. The articulating optical pods allow interpupillary adjustment from 47mm to over 80mm, accommodating a wide range of users.
Each optical pod can be rotated up independently, giving users the flexibility to maintain natural vision in one or both eyes as needed. When helmet mounted and stowed, the pods fold flat against the helmet, reducing neck strain and protecting the device from overhead impacts. The RNVG-A also features automatic pod shutoff when rotated up, preventing tube glow on the helmet and ensuring the device powers down when fully stowed. Articulation tension is user-adjustable using a coin.
Available in Flat Black or Flat Dark Earth, each RNVG-A receives a non-reflective matte finish. Black units are black anodized for hardness and wear resistance, while Flat Dark Earth units receive a Cerakote finish over anodizing for enhanced durability.
